At the April 24, 2018 Board Meeting, the Directors of The Staten Island Foundation approved grants to organizations seeking the following results:
Education
Increases in the number of youth that obtain a high school diploma, HSE or vocational credential
- Historic Tappen Park Community Partnership: $50,000—Youth B.U.I.L.D. Staten Island (Building Innovative Leadership & Development
- Increase the number of least-advantaged students that enter and succeed in college
- St. John’s University: $ 7,500—Difference Makers Initiative
Arts & Culture
Increases in number of youth that participate in the arts in or out of school through multiple experiences
- The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City: $50,000—Project NeON (Neighborhood Opportunity Network) in partnership with Carnegie Hall and NYC Department of Probation
Community Service
Improvements in human services or community-based service organizations’ or schools’ effectiveness and efficiency that lead to improved results for those they serve
- Community Resource Exchange: $20,000—Staten Island DEI Leadership Circle
Increases in the number of residents, particularly youth, who demonstrate their leadership skills in the community, at home, school, or in the workplace
- Central Family Life Center: $50,000—Mentorship for Life Project
Increases in the availability and use of social services to stabilize the lives of at-risk individuals and families
- Legal Services for New York City, Staten Island: $60,000—Immigration Advocacy Project
Increases in the number of Staten Island residents getting and keeping jobs at a level that meets their employment goals
- Green City Force: $150,000—Urban Farm Corps and Farms at NYCHA Initiative
