The Staten Island Foundation is awarded $1 million for Sandy recovery.
The Staten Island Foundation’s Board of Directors and Executive Director are pleased to announce that the Foundation has been awarded a $1 million grant from The American Red Cross to support long-term recovery services for people affected by Superstorm Sandy. The funds will be used to provide financial support to community-based organizations involved in disaster recovery on Staten Island in the borough’s hardest-hit areas.
The Foundation’s Executive Director Betsy Dubovsky said, “The Staten Island Foundation welcomes funds from the Red Cross to support community-service providers who are on the front lines helping East and South Shore residents impacted by Superstorm Sandy. Our nonprofits need these critical resources to expand services to disaster victims who have varied and complex needs. We welcome the ability to increase manpower to directly assist and connect local residents with existing recovery resources including the Red Cross-funded Unmet Needs Roundtables.”
The grant will be distributed through The Staten Island Foundation’s Nonprofit Recovery Fund, a special fund created in response to the devastation of Superstorm Sandy. To learn more about the Nonprofit Recovery Fund, click here.
